The Cleaning Show moves to London in 2015 following overwhelming support for a London-based event from buyers and specifiers across the cleaning and related industries. The event takes place from 10-12 March 2015 at London's Excel Exhibition Centre. And it is a move that is 'vital' for the cleaning industry, according to Doug Cooke, chairman of the British Cleaning Council.
Doug Cooke explained: “As a 50% owner of The Cleaning Show, it is essential that the BCC listens to its visitors. If you strip out 'cross-over' visitors from neighbouring shows and the exhibitors themselves, the trend in visitor numbers attending the event in Birmingham has been concerning us for some time. And it's a trend we literally can't 'afford'. I cannot over-emphasise the importance of The Cleaning Show to this industry - it provides the vast majority of all income generated by the British Cleaning Council, and it is therefore vital for funding programmes that further professionalise and enhance our industry.”
After some minimal adminstration charges have been deducted, the BCC uses all the profits it generates from The Cleaning Show to fund projects initiated by any BCC member association for the next two year period. Recent beneficiaries of this funding have included the British Institute of Cleaning Science and the British Toilet Association.
“The profits generated by The Cleaning Show are put to very good use,” continued Cooke. “Recently they have been used to develop essential training programmes and to enhance health & safety guidelines. The money is used to improve our industry - to make it better at what it does, and to enhance its public profile. We are certain that, with all the visitor attractions a London-based Cleaning Show offers, visitor numbers in 2015 will reflect the importance of our industry. In turn, this will ensure some of our industry giants - that have been missing from recent events - will once again join our loyal exhibitor base to create an event worthy of this essential industry. This will therefore guarantee the essential funding for our industry long into the future.”
London is recognised as one of the world's most important financial, cultural and business centres, and is therefore a fitting host for the next Cleaning Show – elevating the profile of the industry at a critical time. The major contract cleaning businesses operating in London, together with key government departments and public sector organisations, have already confirmed London is their preferred venue, as have many other major businesses from around the UK and Europe. For that reason, the organisers are confident that the visitor profile will be enhanced to reflect the show's proximity to the UK's business hub.
The international attraction of London should not be forgotten either, and discussions are currently underway between the BCC and the European Federation of Cleaning Industries (EFCI) to this end.
