Europa and Intu Properties plc (formerly Capital Shopping Centres) have taken their long standing partnership to another level with the creation of Intu Retail Management Services.
The joint venture launched on 1 April to deliver total facilities management to all shopping centres owned and managed by Intu across the UK. The core objectives of the new model are to deliver 'world class service' and to support Intu's strategic aim of creating an unrivalled customer experience in a dynamic and engaging retail environment.
The scope of services includes technical maintenance, energy management, cleaning, security and project management, with contract values managed by the new business of circa £70 million per annum. Brian Boundy of Intu Properties plc has been appointed as managing director, with additional key management positions filled from both organisations. This joint venture is a further step forward from the Facilities Alliance contracts currently in place between Intu Properties plc, Europa and Inviron.
Trevor Pereira, Intu's commercial director, said: “With the exciting launch of the Intu brand and our enhanced customer proposition, we recognised we wanted the teams at our centres ever more closely aligned with our brand aspirations and values. The joint venture enables us to create a bespoke Intu environment whilst still benefiting from the scale and expertise that Europa and Inviron have successfully brought to our centres as part of the Alliance. Whilst pleased with the progress made under the Facilities Alliance agreements, the time is right now to integrate our centre management operations further.”
Greig Brown, chief executive of Europa, said: “The move to create this exciting joint venture was built upon a solid partnership that, for a number of years, has benefited from cultural synergies that are focused on our people and customers. We are delighted to be the partner of choice to support intu on their strategic journey.”
